V-C declares Satinder Sartaaj brand ambassador of Panjab University

Panjab University vice-chancellor Arun K Grover declared Satinder Sartaaj as brand ambassador of PU during his visit to the university on Wednesday. He was also made an honorary member of PU alumni association.
Sartaaj had come for an interaction with the students and faculty of PU. He was a student in the university and had taught in the department of music before he became famous as a Sufi singer.
He talked to the students and faculty about the making of his film ‘The Black Prince.’ The faculty associated with him during his time in PU shared their moments with him and were proud of his achievements.
‘PU is my second home’
Addressing the audience, Sartaaj felt nostalgic and said, “PU is my second home. I have visited many universities around the world but the fragrance of the soil at PU is embedded in my soul,” he said.He shared his time spent in the hostel and library in the university. Talking to students, he urged them to focus on what they want to do in life and then they will be able to achieve anything.
“PU is proud to have such a versatile student, making his mark on the global horizon,” said the V-C. Sartaaj was presented a shawl and citation on the occasion by the V-C.
He did doctorate in music from PU
Satinder Sartaaj is a doctorate in music from Panjab University. He has also done a certificate course and diploma in Persian language which features in his lyrics.
A non-actor, he acted as Maharaja Duleep Singh in the film ‘The Black Prince’ and wants to continue in the field if he is offered films in the genre he likes. Sartaaj has a love for history which took him to play the role of Duleep Singh. Before and during the film, he studied about the maharaja, and visited several places related to the maharaja. He has won many awards in music and poetry all over the world.
