Youth fires at mahant,consumes poison

A young man, Gagan (22), on Saturday fired a revolver shot at the mahant of Dera Rakhad Das near here and, later, consumed poison to kill self.

A young man, Gagan (22), on Saturday fired a revolver shot at the mahant of Dera Rakhad Das near here and, later, consumed poison to kill self.

In this incident at Namol village of Cheema police jurisdiction in the district, mahant Sham Sundar took the bullet in the thigh; and later, both were Gagan and he were moved to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana. The investigation officer attributed the incident to old rivalry.

The case will be registered after the investigation is over.
