Sudha Kongara made head turns with her very inspiring guru-protégé sports drama in last year’s Saala Khadoos, which starred R. Madhavan as a washed up boxing coach. The film may have been a dud in Hindi but it was a runaway hit in Tamil, helping Madhavan bounce back strongly in Tamil filmdom after a long hiatus. The film also gave Kollywood the highly talented Ritika Singh, a kick-boxer-turned-actor, who proved it with her second film Aaandavan Kattalai that she is no one film wonder.

If the industry grapevine is anything to go by, Sudha has locked the script of her next film and is expected to be teaming up with Suriya. Although there is no official confirmation yet on the project, sources close to Suriya have said that Sudha had pitched a few lines of her story a few months ago and is now apparently ready with the full script.

Suriya, on the other hand, is busy wrapping up Vignesh Shivan’s Thaana Serntha Kootam, tipped to be a remake of Special 26. It should be noted that Suriya also has a project with filmmaker Selvaraghavan in his kitty, but it is said to have been pushed further to work on Sudha’s film first.

It will be really interesting to see what kind of project Sudha has in store for Suriya, who is most likely to produce the film in his home banner 2D Entertainment.
