For director and writer Samit Kakkad, the word ‘Bachchan’ is very closely associated with worship. The Half Ticket (2016) director recently announced his next Marathi project, titled Bachchan, which will be produced by Ameya and Swati Khopkar. Talking about the title of the film, Samit says, “Bachchan is my idol. I’ve had a connection with him since I was born. I share my birthday with him, too. Every film of his is a wonderful memory for me. I must have watched each film of his more than ten times, and I still continue to do so. I love him, period.”
Samit hasn’t met the veteran actor yet, but he has immense love and respect for Bachchan and absolutely admires his energy. “What he is doing at this age is commendable. He is an inspiration to everyone. I feel, all the youth should look up to him and take after him to be successful. For me, he is close to God,” says the Aayna Ka Bayna (2012) director.
The film will be an action-drama and will be shot in Maharashtra. It also marks Samit’s first project with producer Ameya. Talking about his equation with Ameya, he says, “He is a great friend. He is one of the few people who don’t take, but just keep giving. He is helpful and can literally solve all your issues.”
Samit is quite tight-lipped about the film, but he says they are being very careful with the casting. “This is not a biopic, but we are still being extremely cautious. The pressure is definitely there, but I am looking at making a mega feature and don’t want to compromise. The character list is ready and Rohan (Mapuskar; casting director), I and the team are working towards it.”
The film will be produced by Ameya Vinod Khopkar Entertainment and Purple Bull Entertainment Pvt Ltd.
