He was considered a path-breaking filmmaker a few years ago. Known to push boundaries with films such as Khadgam, Gulabi and Sindhooram (which even won a National award), filmmaker Krishna Vamsi has been struggling for nearly a decade to deliver a good film. Most of his recent films were box-office duds and some even were panned heavily by the critics and audiences alike. He has pinned high hopes on his new film, Nakshatram, but going by its trailer we doubt if he has bet on the right project. Let’s hope he proves us wrong.
The trailer was released on Wednesday evening and going by the first glimpse, it looks like a full-length commercial outing with good dose of action and romance. Sundeep Kishan is a guy who aspires to be a cop and swears by wearing the khaki. The film also stars Sai Dharam Tej, in a cameo, and it is rumoured that he did the role free of cost, out of his respect and love for Krishna Vamsi. Regina Cassandra and Pragya Jaiswal play the leading ladies and it’s quite evident from the trailer that they look extremely glamorous. Pragya, on the bright side, plays a cop and she has some action sequences as well.
Gearing up release in August, the film also stars Prakash Raj in a key role. According to the makers, the film’s story is about the importance of police in the society. The makers shot three songs in Bangkok and the movie features a special number starring Shriya Saran.
