According to reports, a private complaint was filed against Latha and three others for double selling the rights of the film Kochadaiiyaan in November 2014. The movie was directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya R.

The case was registered on the directions of a magistrate’s court after a complaint was filed by AdBureau Advertising of Chennai. The FIR was registered under provisions of the Indian Penal Code related to cheating, forgery and making false statement as part of evidence.

According to AdBureau, the superstar’s wife, who was a guarantor for the film, sold the distribution rights of Kochadaiiyaa to another firm in Tamil Nadu, while the private firm was promised a distribution agreement in return for their funding of Rs 10 crore.

Latha also allegedly forged a letterhead of the Welfare Association of India and the Press Club to acquire a gag order on the media.

Latha denied the charges of declaration of false statements, use of false evidence and cheating and reportedly slapped a legal notice on the firm and its MD Abhirchand Nahar after the news broke.
