Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan and director Shankar are all set to reunite for Indian 2 after two decades. Earlier this month, the project was officially announced at the grand finale of Bigg Boss Tamil. The sequel is slated to go on the floors next year and it will mark the return of Haasan as the freedom fighter turned vigilante Senapathy, the role which the actors popularised as Indian thatha. Apparently, Kamal will shed weight for the role and a special trainer will be flown down from the US for him to help him achieve the goal. He will start the weight loss program from November, according to a reliable source from the film’s unit.
“He is expected to shed a lot of weight for the role. Since Kamal sir hasn’t been in his best shape for a while, a trainer from the US will help him look the part by undergoing a rigorous training regime over a period of two months. The principal shooting will only begin after the release of Shankar’s 2.0,” the source said.
Shankar is expected to wrap up the magnum opus 2.0, a sequel to Enthiran, by this year-end and gear up for its release in January 2018. It is believed that A.R Rahman has been signed for Indian 2, which will be shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. The project will be bankrolled by popular Telugu producer Dil Raju. At Bigg Boss Tamil finale, Shankar said he has planning to make a sequel to Indian for a long time and he is glad it’s finally happening.
