Nawazuddin Siddiqui has shared the first behind-the-scenes picture from his first Tamil film, starring Rajinikanth and temporarily titled Thalaivar 165.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui has shared a picture of himself preparing to perform in his first Tamil movie, opposite the ‘superstar’ of Tollywood, Rajinikanth. The film has tentatively been dubbed Thalaivar 165, and will be directed by Karthik Subbaraj, of Pizza fame.
Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 165 will mark Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s first film in Tamil.
“Rehearsing my lines for my first Tamil movie #Thalaivar165. Delighted to be working with the Superstar #Thalaivar,” Nawaz, one of the most respected actors of the Hindi film industry, wrote in his tweet. The picture shows the actor reading the film’s script as he sits in the makeup chair.
In a recent chat with Sun TV, Subbaraj had said directing Rajinikanth is the best moment of his life. “Even though I’ve made four films in my career so far, I grew fascinated towards cinema because of superstar Rajinikanth sir. To get to direct him is the best moment of my life.”
Reports emerged in May that when Subbaraj had gone to Mumbai to promote his latest release Mercury, he met Nawazuddin and pitched the story to him. Even before these reports could be officially verified, Nawazuddin’s manager clarified no such development took place.
The film, which will also star Trisha Krishnan and Vijay Sethupathi, will be released after the Rajinikanth’s much-delayed 2.0. Nawaz most recently appeared in Genius, and before that in Netflix’s Sacred Games.
