Telugu film producers queue up for Kaththi remake rights

Vijay-starrer Tamil actioner Kaththi has turned out to be a massive success, prompting Telugu producers to line up to get the remake rights with a top-billed Telugu star in the lead. However, Vijay isn't too keen preferring dubbed versions instead.

Vijay-starrer Tamil actioner has turned out to be a massive success, prompting Telugu producers to line up to get the remake rights with a top-billed Telugu star in the lead. The Murugadoss-directed film grossed more than Rs 30 crore in its opening weekend worldwide.

Actor Pawan Kalyan is being considered for the film's Telugu remake.

"Several producers have expressed interest to remake 'Kaththi' in Telugu. Pawan Kalyan is the top contender in the list of actors to play the lead in the remake. But the makers of the original haven't yet sold the remake rights," said a source close to producers of .

Vijay is said to be unhappy with the idea of a remake. He instead wants Kaththi to be dubbed and released in Telugu.

"Vijay sir was really not keen about remake. He wanted the dubbed Telugu version to be released," he said.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Kaththi features Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead roles.
