Their purpose is the same as any other condom.

Just remember that the basic purpose of a condom — flavoured or not, lubricated or not — is to prevent the male semen from coming in contact with the female vaginal tract.

It acts as a barrier method of contraception. It gives protection from unwanted pregnancy and also against sexually transmitted diseases. No contraceptive method is 100 per cent safe. But indulging in intercourse without a condom can be more dangerous.
