Bengaluru in semis, ISL teams fret

KOLKATA: I-League champions Bengaluru FC entered their first semi-final of the AFC Cup with a 1-0 home win against Tampines Rovers after the return leg ended 0-0 on Wednesday. But this also means Indian Super League franchises will miss a clutch of players who will be on duty for the club. The semi-finals end on October 19 and the final is on November 5.
Mumbai City FC will be the hardest hit with Sunil Chhetri, Amrinder Singh, Udanta Singh and Lalchhuanmawai Fanai missing. Kerala Blasters will have to do without Rino Anto and CK Vineeth, whose goal helped Bengaluru FC enter the semi-finals. Atletico de Kolkata will miss Keegan Pereira, FC Pune City Eugeneson Lyngdoh, defending champions Chennaiyin FC Daniel Lalhlimpuia, Delhi Dynamos Malsawmzuala and Northeast United FC Salan Singh. FC Goa are the only franchise without a player for Bengaluru FC.
INDIA BAG FIVE MEDALS AT JUNIOR SHOOTING WC
gabala, azerbaijan: India added five more medals, including three gold, to swell its tally to 23 on day four of the ISSF Junior World Cup on Wednesday.
India won two team gold medals in the men’s and women’s 25m pistol events respectively, while the third gold of the day came through Ahnad Jawanda in the individual men’s 25m pistol competition.
India has won a total of nine gold in the competition to be ranked second in the medals tally behind Russia. The day’s only silver came through Gurmeet who made it an Indian 1-2 in the men’s 25m pistol. Ahnad and Gurmeet had teamed up with Arjun Das for the team gold in the same category.
