FOZ DO IGUACU, BRAZIL: Indian mixed doubles pair of Sikki Reddy and Pranaav Jerry Chopra clinched their maiden Grand Prix title at the Brazil Open with a straight games victory over Canadian combo of Toby Ng and Rachel Honderich in the finals.
The top seeded Indian pair, ranked World No. 65, prevailed 21-15, 21-16 over second the seeds.
23-year-old Sikki, who has been a part of the bronze medal winning Indian team at the 2014 and 2016 Uber Cup, has played with five other mixed doubles partners before: V Diju, Alwin Francis, Tarun Kona, Manu Attri and K Nandagopal.
GOYAT TO DEFEND WBC ASIA TITLE NEXT MONTH
NEW DELHI: Indian boxer Neeraj Goyat will defend his WBC Asian welterweight belt against Australia’s Ben Kite on October 15 here at the Talkatora Stadium.
The 24-year-old Neeraj, who is a former Youth Commonwealth Games bronze-medallist, had won the belt November last year by defeating Filipino Nelson Gulpe via a unanimous decision.

LONDON: Burnley striker Andre Gray has requested a personal hearing to answer his misconduct charge by the Football Association for homophobic comments he made on social media in 2012. The 25-year-old initially had until Aug. 31 to respond to the charge but was given an extension until Sept 5.
