Should the Bavarian giants beat Hamburg at home, and reigning champions Borussia Dortmund fail to win at Stuttgart, then Bayern would become champions with seven matches still to play.

Never before would a German championship have been sealed so early in the season.

Crucial tie ahead
But with a crucial Champions League quarter-final, first leg to come next week against Italian champions Juventus, Bayern have no plans on hosting a party.

“Obviously it would be an incredible moment but one we’d only be able to savour very briefly,” the club’s sporting director Matthias Sammer told Bild.

“Preparation for the Juventus match will start immediately (after the Hamburg game) with a meal together at the stadium.

“We have to start the

recovery process, physically as well as mentally, straight away. After that it’s off home and that’s all.”

In any case, the trophy will not be presented to Bayern’s players this weekend, according to German Football League official Andreas Rettig.

Bayern currently lead Dortmund by 20 points with eight matches to play.
