Asian Games Day 7: India ended Day 7 of the Asian Games with six more medals, taking their overall tally to 23. Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh delivered the day's biggest prize with gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, while the men's 50m rifle 3 positions team and Gulveer Singh, in the 10,000m, added silvers....Read More
Manush Shah-Diya Chitale and Manpreet Kaur picked up bronze medals before Baranica Elangovan created history with India's first Asian Games medal in women's pole vault. Both Kabaddi teams marched into their respective finals, while India's women's hockey side reached the semifinals and three squash medals were assured. Rishabh Das also lowered his own national record in the 200m backstroke. The major disappointment came in badminton, where Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty suffered a shock early exit.
India reach men's kabaddi final
India are through to the final! The men's team picked up a 66-28 win over Thailand in the men's semi-final. But there were still a few alarms bells that would have rung for the Indian camp, given the inconsistent performance from the defenders. The raiders - Arjun Deshwal, Devank Dalal, Ayan Lohchab and Aslam Inamdar - were in top form. And India needed them to be in good touch with Thailand's raiders putting in a spirited performance, especially Theeradet Chaisit.
In the final India will likely play Iran once again. And the Indian defence will need to perform much better against the only team that has denied them a gold medal at the Asian Games in the past.
Pakistan defeat India comprehensively
Muhammad Irfan from Pakistan has comprehensively defeated Veer Chotrani after losing the first set. Having assured himself of a medal, he now will face Abhay Singh in the semi-final, thus setting up another India vs Pakistan clash.
Indian shooters out of 50m air rifle 3 positions final
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Niraj Kumar disappoint in the 50m air rifle 3 positions men's singles final. While the former exited at 5th position, the latter finished last. After winning the team silver, it was a disappointing end in the individual event.
India men's kabaddi team dominates till half-time
One-sided on the scoreline perhaps, but it has been an entertaining contest between the Indian men's kabaddi team and Thailand. Both teams have struggled with defence, leaving room for raiders to pick up points at will. Thailand's Theeradet Chaisit, in particular, has been the standout raider, as he's wrestled past the seasoned Indian players on multiple occasions in the first half.
India lead 37-18 in the semi-final.
Anahat Singh assures 3rd squash medal
India's no.1 women's squash star Anahat Singh has advanced to the semi-final. She eased past compatriot Tanvi Khanna, defeating her in straight sets by a margin of 11-2, 11-5, 11-3. She will now face Japan's Satomi Watanabe, who won the bronze medal at the last edition of the Asian Games.
Sachin advances to boxing quarter-final
Sachin gets the better of former Asian champion and Worlds bronze medallist Mohammad Abu Jajeh, winning 4-1 on a split decision after a closely fought bout. Abu Jajeh pushed hard in the final round but appeared to tire, while Sachin looked sharper and landed the cleaner punches. Sachin advances to the quarterfinals, where he will face Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto, another Worlds bronze medallist.
India vs Pakistan underway in squash
Veer Chotrani begins his quarter-final encounter against Pakistan's Muhammad Irfan in the squash men's singles category. If he wins, he will advance to the semi-final where there will be an all-Indian clash against Abhay Singh.
Kabaddi women in final!!
Much better performance all-around from the Indian women's team in the second half, as they storm through to the gold medal match with a 48-24 win over Nepal.
India has now reached the final in each of the five editions in which the kabaddi women's event has been held at the Asian Games - they lost only the 2018 final to Iran.
Unnati Hooda advances
Unnati Hooda made a winning start to her singles campaign at the Asian Games 2026 with a win against North Korea's Song Yu Mi. She won in straight sets 21-9, 21-10. She will now face Malaysia's Wong Ling Ching in the Round of 32.
Abhay Singh assures medal
Abhay Singh has smashed Ryunosuke Tsukue of Japan in his men's singles squash quarterfinal. He defeated him in straight sets by a margin of 11-4, 11-3, 11-6. He has thus reached the semi-final where we could see an all-Indian clash with Veer Chotrani if he defeats Pakistan's Muhammad Irfan in his quarter-final.
India start well in women's kabaddi semi-final
A bit tighter than they would have hoped, particularly in the opening exchanges, but India take a decent 31-17 lead into the halftime break. There was some solid raiding from Sanju Devi, but the Indian defence has been rather inconsistent so far in this semi-final. A medal is already assured, but they are now 15 minutes away from a spot in their fifth consecutive final at the Asian Games.
Two Indians qualify for 50m rifle 3 positions final
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Niraj Kumar have qualified for the final of the men's individual final of the 50m rifle 3 positions. They finished fourth and fifth respectively with 589 and 588 points. The two will now look to win further shooting medals for India.

Know your gold medallists
Hailing from Sulkha in Rewari, Haryana, Kamaljeet picked up shooting in 2019 after an injury forced him to give up his track-and-field career.
Coming from a middle-class family, Kamaljeet faced financial challenges early in his career and there were times when he considered quitting the sport. He made a strong mark in the junior international circuit, winning gold in the 50m Pistol Junior Men event at the 2023 ISSF Junior World Championships in Changwon, Korea. He subsequently progressed into the senior international circuit, competing in both 10m Air Pistol and 50m Pistol.
Suruchi, meanwhile, had a remarkable debut on the senior international circuit in 2025, winning three consecutive individual ISSF World Cup gold medals in Buenos Aires, Lima and Munich. She also won gold in the mixed team event at the Lima World Cup.
Her outstanding 2025 season culminated in a gold medal at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha, where she set a Junior World Record of 245.1 in the 10m Air Pistol final.
In 2026, she continued her strong form by winning gold at the ISSF World Cup in Munich, making her one of India’s leading international 10m Air Pistol shooters. She also won silver in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the 2026 Asian Championships.
Another silver in shooting
Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Niraj Kumar and Rudrankksh Patil have won India's second shooting medal of the day. The trio clinched the silver medal for India in the men's 50m air rifle 3 positions team event. They hit a combined total of 1762 points, and were just five points behind China.
GOLD For India!!!!
Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh put up a brilliant show in the final of the 10m air pistol mixed team event. They finished with the gold medal, thus clinching India's second gold of the Asian Games 2026. Their final tally was 484.6, which was 6.6 points ahead of second-placed South Korea.
Shooters moments away from gold
The Indian pair of Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh are continuing to lead in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. With a tally of 424.9, they have taken a lead of 8.4 over South Korea. They are now just one shot away from a gold medal.
India beat Japan 3-1
India beat Japan 3-1 to continue their winning run at the Asian Games. Lalremsiami opened the scoring before Ishika doubled India’s lead, with Navneet Kaur adding the third goal. Kobayakawa Shiho pulled one back for Japan in the final quarter, but India held on comfortably to seal the win. They have thus reached the semi-final.
IND 3-1 JPN Full Time
Japan open their scoring in Q4
Shiho Kobayakawa keeps Japan alive in the contest as she pulls one back for the hosts in the final quarter. Japan now have a chance to mount a stunning comeback, with India’s lead reduced and the game suddenly getting interesting. IND 3-1 JPN Q4
Is the 2nd gold incoming?
India and South Korea are battling for a gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet, however have been the better of the two pairs, already with 293.4 points deep into the third series.
Shooting final begins
The final of the 10m air pistol mixed team event begins. Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh lead early into the final, as they aim for the first gold medal from shooting at the event. They look ready and determined, after topping the qualification round with an Asian record.
Navneet helps India take 3-0 lead in hockey!
Navneet Kaur makes it 3-0 for India with a field goal! It has not been as dominant a display as the wins over Thailand and Uzbekistan, but India have controlled the tempo well and the three-goal lead puts them in a comfortable position. IND 3-0 JPN Q3
India 2-0 ahead at half time!
Penalty corner, and India double their lead to 2-0! Ishika reacts quickly to the rebound from close range and makes no mistake in putting it away. India take a comfortable 2-0 lead into half time against Japan. IND 2-0 JPN, Half time
Sajan Prakash qualifies in swimming final
Swimmer Sajan Prakash finished third in his heat of the men's 200m butterfly with a timing of 2:00.94. Overall he finished 6th, thus qualifying for the final. It will be interesting to see if Sajan goes beyond all expecations and wins a rare swimming medal for India at the Asian Games.
India hold slender lead vs Japan
It is a tight contest between India and Japan, with both teams showing good tactical awareness to deny each other clear scoring chances. India have a narrow 1-0 lead, but Japan remain very much in the game, so India will be looking for another goal in the second quarter. IND 1-0 JPN | Q2
