Incidentally, the Spaniard was the last player Devvarman had beaten before a disappointing run through the summer. The Indian had won a tough three-setter 7-6(6), 2-6, 7-6(8) against Garcia-Lopez in the second round of the clay-court event in Belgrade before losing six matches in a row, including five first-round defeats. He next faces France’s Julien Benneteau. Meanwhile, Sania Mirza bowed out in the final round of qualifying. After having beaten Anna Tatishvili 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the second round of qualifiers on the day, she failed to make it to the main draw losing 3-6, 3-6 to Tamira Paszek.
