India's first national tennis champion Sumant Misra (88) passed away on Saturday.

He was called 'Grandfather of Indian tennis' and represented the country at the Davis Cup between 1947- 1956 and also played in the Wimbledon and US Nationals in the pre-Open era in world tennis.Misra was one of the only three Indians to win the national title.

Third seed Sayali Gokhale of Air India upstaged top seed Neha Pandit of AAI to storm into finals of the IFCL All India Senior Ranking Badminton tournament. Sayali defeated Neha in straight sets 21-16, 21-16. She will meet Tanvi Lad, who beat N Siki Reddy of Andhra Pradesh 21-13 in the Semifinals. In Men's Singles, Saurabh Varma of PSPB trounced third seed H S Prannoy 21-13, 21-18 to meet his B Sai Praneeth in the finals.
