UPDATE: Travis Kelce was evaluated in the locker room at halftime and was cleared to return. On the first play of the second half, he caught a 5-yard pass and looked healthy.

ORIGINAL STORY: Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was seen heading to the locker room after taking a hit to the chest during Sunday’s Week 9 matchup against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium. It remains unclear whether he will return to the game.

What happened?

Travis Kelce was injured on Kansas City's final drive of the first half. Kelce ran across the middle for a pass from Patrick Mahomes. The ball came behind him, and when he turned to catch it, he took a hard hit to the chest from Bills safety Cole Bishop. Kelce stayed down for a moment before walking to the locker room. He appeared to say something to the crowd as he left the field.

A video of the hit has surfaced on social media.

Before the injury, Kelce had one catch on two targets for 20 yards in the first half.
