The NBCC’s assurance has come a year after the Supreme Court removed the Amrapali Group’s promoters from its board, handing over the control of the realty firm to the court receiver, paving the way for fast delivery of delayed units to thousands of homebuyers.

NBCC to start work at Amrapali projects in Noida and Greater Noida

NBCC took over the project in July on the SC orders after homebuyers petitioned it following the Amrapali Group’s failure to deliver around 30,000 flats in 15 projects. The promoters of the Group were jailed, and the court receiver is controlling the firm.
The bench also asked NBCC, the receiver and court-appointed forensic auditors to work out the modus-operandi and feasibility to sell 5,229 unsold flats.(HT image)

There are around 10,000 homebuyers of the Amrapali group, staying in Silicon City in Sector 76, Princely Estate in Sector 76, the Zodiac project in Sector 119, Platinum in Sector 119 and Eden in Sector 50. The residents will need to execute flat registries so that the title deed can be transferred into their names from that of the builder’s.

The court receiver is expected to open his office in Noida to interact with all stakeholders, including homebuyers, as he is now in control of all affairs related to the Amrapali Group’s projects. According to officials, there are 15 housing projects and one commercial project located in Noida and Greater Noida.

The Greater Noida authority is facing a fund crisis as it has a debt of around Rs 5,000 crore to repay (to various banks and government bodies) and struggles to recover around Rs 7,000 crore from 200 defaulter builders.
The Supreme Court (SC) indicated on Wednesday it could take away the Amrapali Group’s ownership of unfinished projects and hand them to government agencies, reiterating that it will protect the interests of tens of thousands of homebuyers after the realty developer failed to deliver flats despite being paid.
