Make realistic budget estimates, ministries told over unused funds issue

About 4.72 lakh crore could not be spent in the financial year ended March 2019 due to various reasons, including regulation of spending, short transfer against budget estimate, reversal of expenditure and shortfalls in performance, they said requesting anonymity.

Centre drops offset clause in govt-to-govt deal in new weapons buying policy

Union government temporarily retained 47,272 crore GST cess

A recent report prepared by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) pointed out “short crediting” of 47,272 crore cess in the non-lapsable GST Compensation Cess Fund. The amount was collected for 2017-18 and 2018-19

‘Can of worms opened?’ Cong on CAG’s report

In its report tabled in Parliament on Wednesday, the country’s top auditor pointed out that several offset contracts built into multiple defence deals had “not yielded the desired results”. The observations were part of CAG’s scrutiny of a raft of offset contracts — including the Rs 59,000 crore Rafale deal — between 2005 and 2018.

Crimes in Delhi up 275% from 2013: CAG report

The report says that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had approved 12,518 posts in the city police with advice to operationalise 3,139 posts first and then the remaining 9379 posts after deployment of 3139 personnel on ground.

SC rejects plea seeking fund transfer from PM Cares to NDRF
