Transfer Certificate of child not a tool for schools to collect pending fees: HC

The HC bench said a TC was not a tool for the schools to collect arrear fees from the parents or to weigh their financial capacity.

The HC directed the Tamil Nadu government to issue circular/instructions/orders to all the schools across the State, to not to insist to produce TC by the child at the time of admission, and prohibit the school managements from making unnecessary entries in the document, including non-payment or delayed payment of fees.(File)

IAF recruitment ad: HC notice to Centre on plea against 89% quota for men

The HC bench of acting chief justice GS Sandhawalia and justice Lapita Banerji, while hearing the plea from Captain Sukhjit Pal Kaur Sanewal (retd) from Punjab, sought the Centre’s response by May 22. Capt Sahnewal was among the first women officers recruited to the Indian Army under the Women Special Entry Scheme.

MCOCA court rejects Jigna Vora’s plea against bail bond

Former journalist Jigna Vora's plea seeking exemption from bail bond was rejected by the MCOCA court. She was acquitted of all charges in the J Dey murder case in May 2018 but was asked to submit a bail bond in case of appeal. The appeal was rejected by the HC and the six-month period for a further appeal to the Supreme Court lapsed. The court rejected her argument and asked why she did not file the bail bond during the appeal period.
