Chirag Paswan was removed recently as the party chief by a faction of the LJP headed by his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras.
Chirag Paswan ejected his uncle Pashupati Kumar Paras's election as the party president and said that only 9 members were present at the meeting in Patna which elected Paras. This is against the constitution of the party, Chirag said.
LJP leader Chirag Paswan said that efforts to create a rift within the party were going on when Ram Vilas Paswan was hospitalised. He accused JD(U) of orchestrating the recent developments.

The five LJP MPs were unhappy with Chirag Paswan's style of functioning. Chirag took over the party after the death of his father Ram Vilas Paswan in 2020.
Lok Janshakti Party MPs are not happy with the working style of Chirag Paswan, news agencies reported, and seek to replace him with Hajipur MP Pashupati Kumar Paras as the new leader of the parliamentary party in Lok Sabha.
Kanhaiya’s meeting with the JD(U) leader comes at a time when the former JNU leader is facing heat from the party.
Other regional parties like the JMM, JD(U), the RJD, among others have also decided to contest the polls either in alliance or on their own.
The meeting with the PM and Shah, immediately after the cabinet expansion in Bihar, assumes significance following the impending cabinet expansion at the Centre. Also, it is believed that Kumar in his meeting could have raised the issue of LJP’s continuation in NDA.
"Lok Janshakti Party has decided to contest all seats in West Bengal and Assam in the ensuing elections, after considering the view of State units that it will help in expanding and strengthening Party's base," Khaliq said as quoted by news agency ANI.
