Mammootty is a Malayalam superstar. After graduating from Government Law College, Ernakulam, he practiced law for two years. Many of his films changed the landscape of the film industry such as Thalapathy, Yatra, Peranbu and Ahimsa. He made his acting debut with Anubhavangal Paalichakal in 1971. For his performance in Ahimsa, he won Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor. He is the chairman of Malayalam Communications which runs Kairali TV. He is married to Sulfath. By Forbes India, he was listed among the ‘25 Greatest Acting Performances of Indian Cinema’ for his role in Mathilukal.
