Campaign video featuring children: Haryana BJP gets poll code violation notice

Haryana chief electoral officer (CEO) Pankaj Agarwal said that after verifying the contents, a notice has been issued to the BJP as the content of the video violated the ECI guidelines. The guidelines clearly directs political parties “not to use children in election campaign, and rallies in any form” whatsoever including distribution of posters, pamphlets or “to participate in slogan shouting, campaign rallies, election meeting etc.”

The video, which was also shared on the party’s social media handle, begins with a child saying “Ab Ki Baar, Haryana Mein Saini Sarkar. Jai Hind!”. In the remaining part of the video, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini is seen interacting with children on different occasions, including on Raksha Bandhan festival. (HT Photo)
