EC's Delimitation Commission to visit Jammu and Kashmir on July 6

The Commission met in Delhi on Wednesday to decide when to hold an all-party meeting with national and local political units with nearly nine months left to complete the exercise, as Jammu and Kashmir gears up for its first assembly election since it became a Union territory, officials said.

When asked about the allegations levelled by the opposition parties in Bihar about irregularities and slow counting to help the ruling National Democratic Alliance, the CEC said that there were only seven people on a counting desk due to Covid-19 as compared to 14 under normal circumstances.

For Covid safe elections, EC holds meeting with 700 poll observers

The Election Commission has already issued guidelines to ensure Covid safety, the most recent being the decision to send booth-level-officers to the houses of elderly (over 80 years) and differently abled voters (PWD), to see if they would want to cast their vote via postal ballot.
