Distressed by Pratyusha Banerjee suicide, fan ends life

A woman committed suicide in Raipur as she was depressed about TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee ending her life earlier this month.

In a rare instance of fan following, a woman allegedly committed suicide in front of her two-year-old son as she was depressed about Balika Vadhu actor Pratyusha Banerjee ending her life. The incident came to light when neighbours heard the child crying continuously and rushed to the residence. Her husband was at work at the time of suicide.

Pratyusha Banerjee committed suicide on April 1.

The victim, Madhu Mahanand, wife of Lokesh, was a regular viewer of the TV show and purportedly went into depression after the news of Pratyusha suicide broke.

She was very upset by the TV actor’s death and often discussed it with her husband. She used to get restless after watching Pratyusha’s suicide news on TV , said her husband.

Inspector general of police (IGP) of Raipur Range GP Singh said preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was a regular viewer of Balika Vadhu serial, which had left a deep impression on her mind and life. Police suspected that Pratyusha’s suicide could be a reason behing Madhu ending her life.
