Real cops on television show

“It is not a reality show; it is a real show. It will feature real people and their stories. None of the content will be reconstructed. There will be live chases and investigations. Through this show, we are looking at the crime genre in a new way,” says Deepak Dhar, CEO, Endemol India, the makers of the show.

Although there is no dearth of crime shows on the television — each aiming to showcase events as realistically as possible — a new series plans to capture reality itself:

Ek Shunya Shunya

, an upcoming crime show, will record actual investigations carried out by the police force.

“It is not a reality show; it is a real show. It will feature real people and their stories. None of the content will be reconstructed. There will be live chases and investigations. Through this show, we are looking at the crime genre in a new way,” says Deepak Dhar, CEO, Endemol India, the makers of the show.

The show, which will air on weekends, will also highlight the challenges that the police faces while working on cases. “We’re starting with Delhi and planning to take it to other cities,” says Dhar, adding, “The approach will be positive and although we will show investigations, we will not expose every detail. The camera will be present in the crime zone, but there will be times when sensitive facts will be withheld.”

Was Delhi chosen because it is called the crime capital of our country? “No,” says Dhar, adding,“It was the first destination we thought of and things progressed there smoothly, so we went ahead with it.”

Although the concept of the show seems to be inspired from popular American show, Cops, Dhar denies that there are any similarities between the two. “It’s like saying two singing reality shows are the same. Our show will be presented in a totally different manner.”
