While casting popular film stars in TV commercials is the norm, many brands are also queuing up for on-screen television couples to star in their commercials. Samir Soni is the latest to join the bandwagon of TV stars, who appear in ads with their co-stars. Samir and Keerti Nagpure played the lead roles in the popular show Parichay on Colors. The on-screen couple will be seen together in a real estate commercial, appearing as their characters from the show, Kunal and Siddhi Chopra.

Samir says, “Parichay fans will no doubt be thrilled as we shot for this commercial together. The fans were upset when the show ended and I hope that they are happy with this ad as they will see their favourite pair Kunal-Siddhi once again. We play a husband and wife in the commercial as we did on our show. The company liked our characters and wanted to cast us as them. The shooting was a lot of fun.”

Characters from TV shows have an immense connect with the audiences and their popularity lies in the fact that they are loved as on-screen pairs. They are already established with the people and superstars in their own right. That’s why brands choosing characters over actors to endorse their products has become a huge fad in recent times.

An ad for a car brand had Vikram (Jai Kalra) and Neha (Tarana Raja) from Bade Achhe Lagte Hai while Toasty and Tej starred in another ad for the same car.
