Hours after 8 charred bodies, including that of two children, were found in West Bengal's Birbhum district, the Centre has now sought a report within 72 hours from the Mamata Banerjee government. Earlier, the Chief Minister too had formed a SIT to probe the horrific arson that took place allegedly after the death of Bhadu Sheikh - the deputy chief of the Barshal gram panchayat. Bhadu was murdered in a bomb attack late on Monday night, police reported. Earlier, a delegation of BJP MPs had also met with Home Minister Amit Shah urging him to take action in the incident.
