As UNSC backs Trump's peace force in Gaza, Russia's vote stuns Israel & West| Hamas| Gaza| US| Arab

The UN Security Council passed Resolution 2803 with 13 votes in favor, advancing President Trump’s Gaza Stabilization plan, despite Russia's abstention. U.S. Ambassador Michael Waltz framed the vote as a strong endorsement of the administration’s vision for a secure, post-Hamas Gaza. The resolution, based on the White House’s 20-point plan, seeks to demilitarize Gaza, dismantle Hamas, and deploy an International Stabilization Force led by a coalition including several Muslim-majority nations. It also establishes a transitional “Board of Peace,” backed by a World Bank trust fund, to oversee reconstruction and support a pathway toward Palestinian self-determination. Waltz warned that hesitation, like Russia’s abstention, risks repeating past failures.
