Sonepat molestation case: Sisters unhappy with court’s decision
A Rohtak court on Friday discharged three men accused of molesting two sisters in a Haryana Roadways bus. The incident had occurred on November 28, 2014, when the two sisters, alleging three men of molestation had thrashed them with belts in the moving bus.A video of their act had gone viral on the social media, after which, they became overnight sensation and were given the nickname of ‘brave hearts’. The two sisters— Pooja and Aarti of Sonepat’s Khurd village— had lodged a case against the three men— Mohit, Kuldeep and Deepak of Rohtak’s Assan village— accusing them of molestation. The three were later arrested. They were later released on bail. The Haryana government, that had decided to award the girls for their bravery, had held back the award finding contradictory versions of the incident from eye witnesses. While the two girls had voluntarily asked for polygraph and psychological assessment test (PAT) after the contradictory reports, their tests had reportedly come out “unsatisfactory”. On the other hand, the three boys had reportedly passed the test. Hearing the testimony of 40 witnesses in favour of the accused boys and considering the results of lie detector tests, the court of ACJM, Harish Goyal, on Friday discharged the three boys. The counsel of the girls, meanwhile, maintained that they will challenge the order.
