Covid update: Europe Christmas vaccination hope; 70% face mask study
From the Government of India issuing fresh guidelines to be in force till the end of the year, to the possibility that vaccination may start in Europe by December-end - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. Amid a surge in cases in some parts of India, the Central government said states and Union Territories can impose restrictions like night curfew, but lockdowns in non-containment zones can't be imposed without consultation with the Union administration. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen said that vaccinations may begin by the end of December, and EU states must begin preparing logistics chains. Meanwhile, a study by the Singapore University said that the pandemic could be stopped if 70% people wear masks consistently.
