The concept of a special dance or song sequence is not new to Bollywood, with the original dance diva, Helen ruling the charts in the 70s. But, the item numbers today have regained popularity, with top stars filling in for Helen. No longer seen as the sidelights, the numbers are a must have in most flicks and contribute significantly in the promotion and success of a film.
