Even before the release of Partner, Salman Khan had revealed the team's plans to make a sequel of the movie with the same team. The movie was titled Tom and Jerry. It was hoped that the two actors could turn it into a franchise with a series of the comic caper. Although work on the scripting has begun, producer Sohail Khan is now finding it tough to get financial backing for the movie.
