World Cup 2018: Fans react to Saudi Arabia win vs Egypt
They might have already been out of the World Cup, but that didn't stop their fans from celebrating their 2-1 win over Egypt on Monday. Saudi Arabia snatched the win after Salem Aldawsari scored with almost the last kick in a contest, in a game where both teams were trying to avoid finishing last in Group A. The result means that Saudi Arabia finish third with three points, while Egypt finish in last place. For Egypt, who were playing at the World Cup for the first time since 1990, it was a disappointing tournament. The match in Volgograd came one day after Mohamed Salah allegedly told Egyptian team officials and teammates that he may retire from international play in protest against being used as a political symbol. The striker has been at the centre of a controversy involving his “honorary citizenship” from Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. (Video: SNTV).
