After months of internal turmoil following the assassinations of senior Hamas figures Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar, the militant group is set to hold internal elections to choose a new political bureau chief. According to Saudi-based Asharq News, the vote—delayed due to the Gaza war and leadership instability—could take place within days or weeks. A transitional leadership council overseeing the group since the leaders’ deaths will dissolve once a new chief is chosen.
