BJP MP Sunny Deol faces flak for appointing aide to attend Gurdaspur meets

Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol is in the eye of a storm after appointing a representative to attend meetings in his constituency Gurdaspur. He was elected to the Lower House of Parliament in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Opposition parties like the Congress, and even some allies like Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, criticised Deol's move. However the Bharatiya Janata Party leader called the controversy unfortunate and said that his aim was to ensure smooth flow of work in his constituency while he was away.
