Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar commented on the intensifying crisis in Karnataka. A day after he was stopped from meeting rebel MLAs in Mumbai, Shivakumar expressed confidence that they would return to the party fold. He even went on to say that all the legislators who had resigned would be ‘accommodated one way or another’. The Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) government in Karnataka is staring at collapse after over a dozen MLAs submitted resignations to the Speaker of the Assembly. After a few of the rebel MLAs rushed to the Supreme Court to force the Speaker to take a call on their resignations quickly, the top court instructed the latter to decide by the end of the day. Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar, however, filed a counter saying that it would take time to ascertain whether the resignations are voluntary or not.
