Kerala woman imam gets threats for leading Friday prayers

K Jamida broke gender stereotypes when she led Jumu'ah, the congregational prayers of Muslims held every Friday, at a mosque in Wandoor in Kerala's Malappuram district on January 26, 2018. She is now facing threats from fundamentalists who say she has “defiled the religion”.
