Several residents of West Bengal's Jalpaiguri found that the stock of rice kept at their homes is made up of plastic. In a similar incident, plastic-made sugar was discovered while boiling water in Karnataka's Hassan. The frequent occurrence of such incidents has put a question mark on the supply of cereals to the general public.
