Triple Talaq bill stalled in Rajya Sabha as winter session ends

The winter session of parliament ended on January 5 with the Triple Talaq bill hanging in the balance as the government and the opposition continued their battle of words over the controversial bill. The bill had passed smoothly in Lok Sabha, since the government is in majority there, but faced stiff opposition in Rajya Sabha with the opposition sticking to their demand of sending the bill to a select committee.
