Chandrayaan 2 sent back its first photograph of the Moon. The image was captured on August 21 at a height of 2,650 km from the lunar surface. The Indian Space Research Organisation released the photograph to the public on August 22. Chandrayaan 2 is currently in orbit around Earth's natural satellite. The next major phase of the mission involves the Vikram lander's descent to the lunar surface. This is expected to take place around September 7, 2019. Chandrayaan 2, India's most ambitious space mission, was launched on July 22, 2019.
