Formal dialogue between the Taliban and the Afghanistan government began in Qatar’s Doha. The talks are aimed at ending decades of war in the Asian nation. The dialogue also comes after the United States of America signed a deal with the Taliban to pull troops out of the country. India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar also addressed the conference at the invitation of Qatar’s deputy Prime Minister. The outcome of the talks matters greatly to India, especially in the security realm. Pakistan’s influence over the Taliban, and the possibility of terrorists being rerouted to Jammu and Kashmir is a prominent concern for India. Also at stake are hundreds of infrastructure projects backed by India all across Afghanistan. Jaishankar alluded to these concerns at the meeting. Watch the full video for more.
