Commonwealth Games: Queen's baton reaches India

The Queen's Baton for the 19th Commonwealth Games finally arrived in the host country India from Pakistan via the Wagah border in Punjab early on Friday. The baton was handed over by Pakistan Olympic Association president Syed Arif Hassan to his Indian counterpart and chief Games organiser Suresh Kalmadi at the Wagah border on the outskirts of Amritsar. The baton has travelled across 69 nations and territories of the former British empire, covering almost 170,000 km before entering India. The baton arrived exactly 100 days before the start of the games and will now criss-cross India before reaching the capital New Delhi for the opening ceremony on October 3rd.
