Crowd gathers at White House to celebrate Laden’s death

Chanting "USA USA" and waving flags, a crowd of more than 1,000 people gathered outside the White House to celebrate the announcement that Osama bin Laden was killed by U.S. forces in Pakistan. U.S. officials said that after searching in vain for the al Qaeda leader since he disappeared in Afghanistan in late 2001, the Saudi-born extremist was killed and his body recovered.
