D Sivanandan takes over as new Maharashtra DGP

Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandan took over as the new Director General of Maharashtra Police (DGP) replacing A N Roy who retired after 38 years of service on Monday. Sanjeev Dayal will take charge as the new Mumbai Police Commissioner. Known for his iron hand, Sivanandan is credited with wiping out Mumbai's notorious underworld as the head of the city's crime branch in the early '90s.
