Devotees Observe 'Kalpawas'

Thousands of devotees are thronging the Holy city of Ayodhya in UP to worship on the banks of the River Saryu and observe 'Kalpawas', or a month long fast during the auspicious month of Kartik. People believe that observing 'Kalpawas' helps them fulfill their wishes. During this month-long fast, people can only consume fruits. Over one hundred thousand devotees have so far reached Ayodhya for the festival.
