Ethnic violence claims at least 33 lives in Assam

At least 33 people were killed and thousands left homeless in ethnic violence between Bodo tribal people and Bangladeshi settlers in Udalguri district of Assam over on Sunday. Paramilitary officials said villagers from both communities, armed with bows and arrows, machetes, spears, and guns targeted rivals. The locals said they were unhappy over the handling of the situation.
