First phase of polling in Karnataka

Polling for the first phase of Karnataka Assembly elections began on Saturday, May 10 amidst tight security. Polls are being held for eighty-nine constituencies spread over eleven districts in the southern part of the state. A total of 953 candidates, including seventeen women are in fray for the polls. More than 18,000 polling centres have been set up where nearly 17.3 million voters will exercise their franchise on today.
