Fuel price hike: Pranab calls it 'modest'

Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday announced a hike in price of diesel and cooking gas. Calling the rise in the prices of petroleum products as "modest", Mukherjee expressed hope that the state governments would reduce their taxes to provide relief to consumers. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party slammed the central government and said that the increase in price of diesel and cooking gas shows government's inhuman attitude towards common man.
