Expressing gratitude to people for voting for the Congress party in Assam, state Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday attributed the landmark performance of the party in elections to the welfare work carried out by his government over the years.Addressing mediapersons, Gogoi said the people had voted for the Congress since it was the only party that was actively working to promote development at the grassroots.Assam held two-phased elections,in which the votes for 62 constituencies were cast on April 4, while the remaining 64 constituencies voted on April 11.
